What a citation is, and is not

A line on these pages says a named commentary quotes this report where it comments on that āyah. It never says the report explains the āyah. Nobody can verify that — not this build and not a reader — so it is not written, implied or templated anywhere.

Every one of the 22,188 links was re-derived from the two source files before it was allowed onto a page: a run of twelve consecutive words has to appear in both the hadith text and that edition’s comment on that āyah. Anything that could not be reproduced was dropped.

The numbers say which tradition they come from. A Sunnī number is the collection’s own standard numbering, the one in any printing. A Shīʿī number is written “no. N” because it is the position in the edition this corpus carries, not a universally published reference — and a number that looks more authoritative than it is, is the kind of small lie this project exists to not tell.

Gradings are quoted, never assigned. Where a named grader recorded one it is shown with his name. al-Bukhārī and Muslim carry no per-report grade in this corpus — the collection is the claim — so their reports show none, and sort as ungraded.
