Surah 30 of 114 · Makki · 60 ayat
Ar-Rum الروم
The Romans
PickthallAlif. Lam. Mim.
Yusuf AliA. L. M.
The agreed readingAlif Lam Mim. The letters are recited as letters, and their certain meaning is left with God.
PickthallThe Romans have been defeated
Yusuf AliThe Roman Empire has been defeated-
The agreed readingThe Romans have been defeated. They were People of the Book, and Persia, which was not, overcame them. At that the refusers of Mecca rejoiced.
PickthallIn the nearer land, and they, after their defeat will be victorious
Yusuf AliIn a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious-
The agreed readingIn the nearest land, where the two armies met, the Persians having begun the fighting. And they, after being defeated, will themselves overcome.
PickthallWithin ten years - Allah's is the command in the former case and in the latter - and in that day believers will rejoice
Yusuf AliWithin a few years. With Allah is the Decision, in the past and in the Future: on that Day shall the Believers rejoice-
The agreed readingWithin a few years, which is a span of between three and nine. The command belongs to God before and after: neither their defeat nor their victory fell outside His decree. And on that day the believers will rejoice.
PickthallIn Allah's help to victory. He helpeth to victory whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Merciful.
Yusuf AliWith the help of Allah. He helps whom He will, and He is exalted in might, most merciful.
The agreed readingIn God's help. He gives help to whom He wills, helping one side at one time and another at another, and He is the Mighty and the Merciful. The commentaries place the believers' joy at it on the day of Badr.
PickthallIt is a promise of Allah. Allah faileth not His promise, but most of mankind know not.
Yusuf Ali(It is) the promise of Allah. Never does Allah depart from His promise: but most men understand not.
The agreed readingIt is God's promise, and God does not break what He has promised. But most people do not know that this is how it stands.
PickthallThey know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter.
Yusuf AliThey know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of the End of things they are heedless.
The agreed readingThey know an outward part of the life of this world: its trade and its farming, when to sow and when to reap, how to gather and how to build. And of the world to come they are heedless; it does not cross their minds.
PickthallHave they not pondered upon themselves? Allah created not the heavens and the earth, and that which is between them, save with truth and for a destined end. But truly many of mankind are disbelievers in the meeting with their Lord.
Yusuf AliDo they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did Allah create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrection)!
The agreed readingHave they not thought about their own selves, so as to come back from their heedlessness? Their own selves are nearer to them than anything else, and a mirror in which what is shown in everything else can be seen. God created the heavens and the earth and what lies between them only truly, and for a term He has named. And many people refuse that they will ever meet their Lord.
PickthallHave they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them? They were stronger than these in power, and they dug the earth and built upon it more than these have built. Messengers of their own came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). Surely Allah wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves.
Yusuf AliDo they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls.
The agreed readingHave they not travelled through the land and seen how those before them ended? They were stronger in power than these, and they turned the earth over and built on it more than these have built, and their own messengers came to them with plain proofs. God did not wrong them; it was they who wronged themselves.
PickthallThen evil was the consequence to those who dealt in evil, because they denied the revelations of Allah and made a mock of them.
Yusuf AliIn the long run evil in the extreme will be the End of those who do evil; for that they rejected the Signs of Allah, and held them up to ridicule.
The agreed readingThen the end of those who did evil was the worst end there is, because they called God's signs lies and made a mockery of them.
PickthallAllah produceth creation, then He reproduceth it, then unto Him ye will be returned.
Yusuf AliIt is Allah Who begins (the process of) creation; then repeats it; then shall ye be brought back to Him.
The agreed readingGod begins the creation of people, then makes it again after their death, and then to Him you will be returned.
PickthallAnd in the day when the Hour riseth the unrighteous will despair.
Yusuf AliOn the Day that the Hour will be established, the guilty will be struck dumb with despair.
The agreed readingAnd on the Day when the Hour rises the guilty will be struck dumb with despair, their argument cut off and nothing left for them to say.
PickthallThere will be none to intercede for them of those whom they made equal with Allah. And they will reject their partners (whom they ascribed unto Him).
Yusuf AliNo intercessor will they have among their "Partners" and they will (themselves) reject their "Partners".
The agreed readingAnd none of those they set up as partners with God, the idols, will intercede for them. Having already despaired of mercy on account of their own deeds, they despair of their gods too, and they will refuse the partners they made.
PickthallIn the day when the Hour cometh, in that day they will be sundered.
Yusuf AliOn the Day that the Hour will be established,- that Day shall (all men) be sorted out.
The agreed readingAnd on the Day the Hour rises, on that Day they will be parted from one another, those who believed and those who refused.
PickthallAs for those who believed and did good works, they will be made happy in a Garden.
Yusuf AliThen those who have believed and worked righteous deeds, shall be made happy in a Mead of Delight.
The agreed readingAs for those who believed and did what is right, they will be in a garden, and in it they will be made glad.
PickthallBut as for those who disbelieved and denied Our revelations, and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, such will be brought to doom.
Yusuf AliAnd those who have rejected Faith and falsely denied our Signs and the meeting of the Hereafter,- such shall be brought forth to Punishment.
The agreed readingBut as for those who refused, and called God's signs lies, and called the meeting of the world to come a lie, those will be brought into the punishment and held there.
PickthallSo glory be to Allah when ye enter the night and when ye enter the morning -
Yusuf AliSo (give) glory to Allah, when ye reach eventide and when ye rise in the morning;
The agreed readingSo glory be to God when you come to the evening and when you come to the morning. The commentaries read the glorifying as the prayer itself, and place the sunset and the night prayers in the evening, and the dawn prayer in the morning.
PickthallUnto Him be praise in the heavens and the earth! - and at the sun's decline and in the noonday.
Yusuf AliYea, to Him be praise, in the heavens and on earth; and in the late afternoon and when the day begins to decline.
The agreed readingAnd praise belongs to Him in the heavens and the earth, where all who are in them praise Him, and in the late afternoon and at noon. The afternoon and the noon prayers fall in those two.
PickthallHe bringeth forth the living from the dead, and He bringeth forth the dead from the living, and He reviveth the earth after her death. And even so will ye be brought forth.
Yusuf AliIt is He Who brings out the living from the dead, and brings out the dead from the living, and Who gives life to the earth after it is dead: and thus shall ye be brought out (from the dead).
The agreed readingHe brings the living out of the dead, the human being out of the drop and the bird out of the egg, and brings the dead out of the living, the drop and the egg out of what lives. And He gives the earth life after its death. In that same way you will be brought out.
PickthallAnd of His signs is this: He created you of dust, and behold you human beings, ranging widely!
Yusuf AliAmong His Signs in this, that He created you from dust; and then,- behold, ye are men scattered (far and wide)!
The agreed readingAnd of His signs, which point to His power, is that He created you from dust, your origin being Adam, and then you became human beings spreading out over the earth.
PickthallAnd of His signs is this: He created for you helpmeets from yourselves that ye might find rest in them, and He ordained between you love and mercy. Lo! herein indeed are portents for folk who reflect.

PickthallAnd of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colours. Lo! herein indeed are portents for men of knowledge.
Yusuf AliAnd among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colours: verily in that are Signs for those who know.
The agreed readingAnd of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of your tongues, Arabic and every other language, and of your colours. In that there are signs for those who know.

The agreed readingAnd of His signs is your sleep by night and by day, made a rest for you by His will, and your going about by day in search of His bounty. In that there are signs for a people who listen.

The agreed readingAnd of His signs is that He shows you the lightning, bringing fear to the traveller who dreads the bolt and hope to the settled man who wants the rain, and that He sends water down from the sky and gives the earth life with it after its death. In that there are signs for a people who use their reason.
PickthallAnd of His signs is this: The heavens and the earth stand fast by His command, and afterward, when He calleth you, lo! from the earth ye will emerge.
Yusuf AliAnd among His Signs is this, that heaven and earth stand by His Command: then when He calls you, by a single call, from the earth, behold, ye (straightway) come forth.
The agreed readingAnd of His signs is that the heaven and the earth stand fast by His command, held up without pillars. Then, when He calls you with a single call out of the earth, at the blowing of the horn, you will come out.
PickthallUnto Him belongeth whosoever is in the heavens and the earth. All are obedient unto Him.
Yusuf AliTo Him belongs every being that is in the heavens and on earth: all are devoutly obedient to Him.
The agreed readingAnd to Him belongs everyone in the heavens and the earth, His by creation and by ownership. All of them stand obedient to Him.
PickthallHe it is Who produceth creation, then reproduceth it, and it is easier for Him. His is the Sublime Similitude in the heavens and the earth. He is the Mighty, the Wise.
Yusuf AliIt is He Who begins (the process of) creation; then repeats it; and for Him it is most easy. To Him belongs the loftiest similitude (we can think of) in the heavens and the earth: for He is Exalted in Might, full of wisdom.
The agreed readingAnd He is the One who begins the creation and then makes it again, and the making again is the easier of the two by the measure of how things look to you. His is the highest likeness in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
PickthallHe coineth for you a similitude of yourselves. Have ye, from among those whom your right hands possess, partners in the wealth We have bestowed upon you, equal with you in respect thereof, so that ye fear them as ye fear each other (that ye ascribe unto Us partners out of that which We created)? Thus We display the revelations for people who have sense.
Yusuf AliHe does propound to you a similitude from your own (experience): do ye have partners among those whom your right hands possess, to share as equals in the wealth We have bestowed on you? Do ye fear them as ye fear each other? Thus do we explain the Signs in detail to a people that understand.
The agreed readingHe sets out for you a likeness drawn from yourselves: do you take those your right hands own as partners in what God has provided you, so that you and they are equal in it, and you fear them as you fear one another? You would not. So God sets out the signs for a people who use their reason.
PickthallNay, but those who do wrong follow their own lusts without knowledge. Who is able to guide him whom Allah hath sent astray? For such there are no helpers.
Yusuf AliNay, the wrong-doers (merely) follow their own lusts, being devoid of knowledge. But who will guide those whom Allah leaves astray? To them there will be no helpers.
The agreed readingRather, those who do wrong follow their own desires with no knowledge behind them. Who then can guide the one God has let go astray? There is no guide for him, and there is no one who can hold God's punishment off them.
PickthallSo set thy purpose (O Muhammad) for religion as a man by nature upright - the nature (framed) of Allah, in which He hath created man. There is no altering (the laws of) Allah's creation. That is the right religion, but most men know not -
Yusuf AliSo set thou thy face steadily and truly to the Faith: (establish) Allah's handiwork according to the pattern on which He has made mankind: no change (let there be) in the work (wrought) by Allah: that is the standard Religion: but most among mankind understand not.
The agreed readingSo set your face to the religion, turning away from everything else towards the one God. That is the nature God made, the nature on which He made people. There is no changing what God created. That is the upright religion, but most people do not know.
PickthallTurning unto Him (only); and be careful of your duty unto Him and establish worship, and be not of those who ascribe partners (unto Him);
Yusuf AliTurn ye back in repentance to Him, and fear Him: establish regular prayers, and be not ye among those who join gods with Allah,-
The agreed readingTurning back to Him in what He has commanded and what He has forbidden, and be mindful of God, and establish the prayer, and do not be of those who set up partners with Him.
PickthallOf those who split up their religion and became schismatics, each sect exulting in its tenets.
Yusuf AliThose who split up their Religion, and become (mere) Sects,- each party rejoicing in that which is with itself!
The agreed readingOf those who split their religion apart, differing over what they worship, and became factions, each faction pleased with what it holds.
PickthallAnd when harm toucheth men they cry unto their Lord, turning to Him in repentance; then, when they have tasted of His mercy, behold! some of them attribute partners to their Lord
Yusuf AliWhen trouble touches men, they cry to their Lord, turning back to Him in repentance: but when He gives them a taste of Mercy as from Himself, behold, some of them pay part-worship to other god's besides their Lord,-
The agreed readingAnd when hardship touches people they call on their Lord, turning back to Him and to no one else. Then when He gives them a taste of mercy from Him, a group of them go straight back to setting up partners with their Lord.
PickthallSo as to disbelieve in that which We have given them. (Unto such it is said): Enjoy yourselves awhile, but ye will come to know.
Yusuf Ali(As if) to show their ingratitude for the (favours) We have bestowed on them! Then enjoy (your brief day); but soon will ye know (your folly).
The agreed readingSo they end up ungrateful for what God has given them. Take your enjoyment, then, for the words are a warning and not a permission, and you will come to know what it comes to.
PickthallOr have We revealed unto them any warrant which speaketh of that which they associate with Him?
Yusuf AliOr have We sent down authority to them, which points out to them the things to which they pay part-worship?
The agreed readingOr has God sent down to them any warrant that speaks for what they set up as partners with Him? The question is a denial: no such warrant exists.
PickthallAnd when We cause mankind to taste of mercy they rejoice therein; but if an evil thing befall them as the consequence of their own deeds, lo! they are in despair!
Yusuf AliWhen We give men a taste of Mercy, they exult thereat: and when some evil afflicts them because of what their (own) hands have sent forth, behold, they are in despair!
The agreed readingAnd when God gives people a taste of mercy they rejoice in it, and the rejoicing is an insolent one. And if hardship reaches them for what their own hands sent ahead, they fall straight into despair.
PickthallSee they not that Allah enlargeth the provision for whom He will, and straiteneth (it for whom He will). Lo! herein indeed are portents for folk who believe.
Yusuf AliSee they not that Allah enlarges the provision and restricts it, to whomsoever He pleases? Verily in that are Signs for those who believe.
The agreed readingHave they not seen that God spreads out provision for whom He wills and narrows it for whom He wills, and that both of these are a test? In that there are signs for a people who believe.
PickthallSo give to the kinsman his due, and to the needy, and to the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek Allah's Countenance. And such are they who are successful.
Yusuf AliSo give what is due to kindred, the needy, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek the Countenance, of Allah, and it is they who will prosper.
The agreed readingSo give the kinsman his due, of kindness and of keeping the tie unbroken, and give the needy and the traveller theirs. That is better for those who seek God's face, and those are the ones who succeed.
PickthallThat which ye give in usury in order that it may increase on (other) people's property hath no increase with Allah; but that which ye give in charity, seeking Allah's Countenance, hath increase manifold.
Yusuf AliThat which ye lay out for increase through the property of (other) people, will have no increase with Allah: but that which ye lay out for charity, seeking the Countenance of Allah, (will increase): it is these who will get a recompense multiplied.
The agreed readingAnd what you give in usury, so that it may grow at the expense of other people's wealth, does not grow with God. And what you give as the zakat, seeking God's face, is what is multiplied back to you. The commentaries read the first as giving a gift in order to get back more than was given.
PickthallAllah is He Who created you and then sustained you, then causeth you to die, then giveth life to you again. Is there any of your (so-called) partners (of Allah) that doeth aught of that? Praised and Exalted be He above what they associate (with Him)!
Yusuf AliIt is Allah Who has created you: further, He has provided for your sustenance; then He will cause you to die; and again He will give you life. Are there any of your (false) "Partners" who can do any single one of these things? Glory to Him! and high is He above the partners they attribute (to him)!
The agreed readingGod is the One who created you, then provided for you, then makes you die, then gives you life again. Is there one among the partners you set up who does any part of that? There is not. Glory be to Him, and He is far above what they set up with Him.
PickthallCorruption doth appear on land and sea because of (the evil) which men's hands have done, that He may make them taste a part of that which they have done, in order that they may return.
Yusuf AliMischief has appeared on land and sea because of (the meed) that the hands of men have earned, that (Allah) may give them a taste of some of their deeds: in order that they may turn back (from Evil).
The agreed readingRuin has appeared on the land and on the sea for what people's own hands have earned: the rain held back, the crops failing, the towns along the water going short. God lets it come so that He may make them taste part of what they did, and so that they may turn back.
PickthallSay (O Muhammad, to the disbelievers): Travel in the land, and see the nature of the consequence for those who were before you! Most of them were idolaters.
Yusuf AliSay: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those before (you): Most of them worshipped others besides Allah."
The agreed readingSay: travel through the land and see how those before them ended. Most of them were people who set up partners with God.
PickthallSo set thy purpose resolutely for the right religion, before the inevitable day cometh from Allah. On that day mankind will be sundered-
Yusuf AliBut set thou thy face to the right Religion before there come from Allah the Day which there is no chance of averting: on that Day shall men be divided (in two).
The agreed readingSo set your face to the upright religion before a Day comes from God that nothing can turn back. On that Day they will be parted from one another, once the reckoning is done.
PickthallWhoso disbelieveth must (then) bear the consequences of his disbelief, while those who do right make provision for themselves -
Yusuf AliThose who reject Faith will suffer from that rejection: and those who work righteousness will spread their couch (of repose) for themselves (in heaven):
The agreed readingWhoever refuses, his refusal falls back on himself, and what it comes to is the Fire. And whoever does what is right is smoothing out a place for himself in the Garden.
PickthallThat He may reward out of His bounty those who believe and do good works. Lo! He loveth not the disbelievers (in His guidance).
Yusuf AliThat He may reward those who believe and work righteous deeds, out of his Bounty. For He loves not those who reject Faith.
The agreed readingThat God may reward out of His bounty those who believed and did what is right. He does not love those who refuse.
PickthallAnd of His signs is this: He sendeth herald winds to make you taste His mercy, and that the ships may sail at His command, and that ye may seek his favour, and that haply ye may be thankful.
Yusuf AliAmong His Signs is this, that He sends the Winds, as heralds of Glad Tidings, giving you a taste of His (Grace and) Mercy,- that the ships may sail (majestically) by His Command and that ye may seek of His Bounty: in order that ye may be grateful.
The agreed readingAnd of His signs is that He sends the winds carrying good news of rain, so that He may give you a taste of His mercy, the rain and the plenty that comes with it, and so that the ships may run by His command, and that you may seek His bounty and give thanks.
PickthallVerily We sent before thee (Muhammad) messengers to their own folk. Then we took vengeance upon those who were guilty (in regard to them). To help believers is ever incumbent upon Us.
Yusuf AliWe did indeed send, before thee, messengers to their (respective) peoples, and they came to them with Clear Signs: then, to those who transgressed, We meted out Retribution: and it was due from Us to aid those who believed.
The agreed readingAnd God sent messengers before you to their own peoples, and they came to them with plain proofs of the truth of what they brought, and were called liars. So God took retribution from the guilty. And helping the believers was a duty God took upon Himself.
PickthallAllah is He Who sendeth the winds so that they raise clouds, and spreadeth them along the sky as pleaseth Him, and causeth them to break and thou seest the rain downpouring from within them. And when He maketh it to fall on whom He will of His bondmen, lo! they rejoice;
Yusuf AliIt is Allah Who sends the Winds, and they raise the Clouds: then does He spread them in the sky as He wills, and break them into fragments, until thou seest rain-drops issue from the midst thereof: then when He has made them reach such of his servants as He wills behold, they do rejoice!-
The agreed readingGod is the One who sends the winds, and they stir up cloud, and He spreads it across the sky as He wills, little or much, a day's journey or two, driving it to whatever land He wills. Then He breaks it into pieces, and you see the rain come out of its middle. And when He makes it fall on whom He wills of His servants, at once they are rejoicing.
PickthallThough before that, even before it was sent down upon them, they were in despair.
Yusuf AliEven though, before they received (the rain) - just before this - they were dumb with despair!
The agreed readingThough before it came down on them they had been cut off and despairing that it would come at all.
PickthallLook, therefore, at the prints of Allah's mercy (in creation): how He quickeneth the earth after her death. Lo! He verily is the Quickener of the Dead, and He is Able to do all things.
Yusuf AliThen contemplate (O man!) the memorials of Allah's Mercy!- how He gives life to the earth after its death: verily the same will give life to the men who are dead: for He has power over all things.
The agreed readingSo look at the traces of God's mercy, at how He gives the earth life after its death, until trees and pasture come up out of what had been dry and barren. He is the One who gives the dead life, and He is able to do everything.
PickthallAnd if We sent a wind and they beheld it yellow, they verily would still continue in their disbelief.
Yusuf AliAnd if We (but) send a Wind from which they see (their tilth) turn yellow,- behold, they become, thereafter, Ungrateful (Unbelievers)!
The agreed readingAnd if God sent a wind that harmed the crop and they saw it turn yellow, they would carry on after that in their refusing.
PickthallFor verily thou (Muhammad) canst not make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call when they have turned to flee.
Yusuf AliSo verily thou canst not make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call, when they show their backs and turn away.
The agreed readingYou cannot make the dead hear, nor make the deaf hear the call once they have turned their backs and gone.
PickthallNor canst thou guide the blind out of their error. Thou canst make none to hear save those who believe in Our revelations so that they surrender (unto Him).
Yusuf AliNor canst thou lead back the blind from their straying: only those wilt thou make to hear, who believe in Our signs and submit (their wills in Islam).
The agreed readingNor can you lead the blind out of the straying they are in. The only ones you make hear, with the hearing that understands and accepts, are those who believe in God's signs, and they are the ones submitting.
PickthallAllah is He Who shaped you out of weakness, then appointed after weakness strength, then, after strength, appointed weakness and grey hair. He createth what He will. He is the Knower, the Mighty.
Yusuf AliIt is Allah Who created you in a state of (helpless) weakness, then gave (you) strength after weakness, then, after strength, gave (you weakness and a hoary head: He creates as He wills, and it is He Who has all knowledge and power.
The agreed readingGod is the One who created you out of weakness: from a poor fluid, and then the weakness of a child who cannot grasp or walk. Then after that weakness He made strength, the strength of youth. Then after strength He made weakness again, and grey hair. He creates what He wills, and He is the Knowing, the Able.
PickthallAnd on the day when the Hour riseth the guilty will vow that they did tarry but an hour - thus were they ever deceived.
Yusuf AliOn the Day that the Hour (of Reckoning) will be established, the transgressors will swear that they tarried not but an hour: thus were they used to being deluded!
The agreed readingAnd on the Day the Hour rises the guilty will swear they stayed no more than an hour. They were turned away from the truth in life, and they are turned from it still.
PickthallBut those to whom knowledge and faith are given will say: The truth is, ye have tarried, by Allah's decree, until the Day of Resurrection. This is the Day of Resurrection, but ye used not to know.
Yusuf AliBut those endued with knowledge and faith will say: "Indeed ye did tarry, within Allah's Decree, to the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection: but ye - ye were not aware!"
The agreed readingAnd those who were given knowledge and faith, the angels and others, will say: you stayed, by what God had written in His knowledge, until the Day of Raising. And this is the Day of Raising, but you would not know it.
PickthallIn that day their excuses will not profit those who did injustice, nor will they be allowed to make amends.
Yusuf AliSo on that Day no excuse of theirs will avail the transgressors, nor will they be invited (then) to seek grace (by repentance).
The agreed readingSo on that Day no excuse offered by those who did wrong will do them any good, and they will not be asked to put things right, for the time of putting right is over.
PickthallVerily We have coined for mankind in this Qur'an all kinds of similitudes; and indeed if thou camest unto them with a miracle, those who disbelieve would verily exclaim: Ye are but tricksters!
Yusuf Aliverily We have propounded for men, in this Qur'an every kind of Parable: But if thou bring to them any Sign, the Unbelievers are sure to say, "Ye do nothing but talk vanities."
The agreed readingAnd God has set out for people in this Qur'an every kind of likeness, to rouse them. And if you brought them a sign, of the kind given to those before you, those who refuse would say: you are nothing but people making things up.
PickthallThus doth Allah seal the hearts of those who know not.
Yusuf AliThus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who understand not.
The agreed readingSo God seals the hearts of those who do not know His oneness, as He has sealed the hearts of these.
PickthallSo have patience (O Muhammad)! Allah's promise is the very truth, and let not those who have no certainty make thee impatient.
Yusuf AliSo patiently persevere: for verily the promise of Allah is true: nor let those shake thy firmness, who have (themselves) no certainty of faith.
The agreed readingSo be patient. God's promise is true. And do not let those who have no certainty about the raising unsettle you into lightness or haste, and do not give up your patience.
